This page is for Incoming and Returning Westside Volleyball Players.
Open gyms will be facilitated in the Spring. These events will be a senior led. Coaches will be in the gym to watch. The goal of spring open gyms is to evaluate players for summer college camps, build chemistry, and play a bunch of volleyball! Spring Open Gyms will consist of playing 3v3, 4v4, 6v6, and various games. Spring open gyms are not mandatory but highly recommended for everyone wishing to tryout.

Summer Camps
Mark you calendars! Plan to attend these camps to prepare for the 2023 High School Season! These camps will focus on training the skill techniques and systems that we will use this year. This is also a great chance for players to work directly with their high school coaches! Use the links below to register!
* Do not register for the UNO, Wisconsin, or Creighton Team Camp unless invited. Those camps are non-refundable and are run by those Universities!

Summer Weight Lifting
Players are expected to workout 3 times a week at Westside High School. Volleyball players can workout from 9-10 AM on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday beginning June 12. Plan to workout before open gyms when possible. The weight room will be open Monday-Thursday to Westside Volleyball Athletes from 9-10 AM starting June 12.

Conditioning Test for Tryout
It is expected that all players wanting to tryout for Westside Volleyball come into the season in great cardiovascular shape. We will be administering the MINI MOUNTAIN CONDITIONING TEST on the first day of tryouts. This test will be easy to accomplish if you spend six to eight weeks working at it during the summer.
The Mini-Mountain
Keep in mind that you rest more than you run any one sprint. If you can complete this test, then you will be ready for practices to begin! If you do not complete this test on the first day, we will run it at each practice until you successfully complete it.
Each Down is the length on one basketball court or 102' feet. Athletes will sprint to the end line of the court and physically touch it with on hand, then turn and run back within a specified times. Times are located below.
Times to Beat:
1 Down-and-Back: 12 Second
2 Down-and Backs: 27 Seconds
3 Down-and-Backs: 42 Seconds
Complete all 3 sets within time to complete the test.
